Samoyed Description

The Samoyed is a medium sized breed of dog from the Spitz family, their ears are pricked and erect and their gorgeous bushy tails are carried high over their backs. They have weather resistant coats that are generally white but also come in cream or biscuit variations. Samoyeds almost look as though they are wearing a pair of snowshoes as their feet are flat and they have a lot of fur between their toes; their paws are designed like this to help the dogs in their homelands as the snow cannot form in between their toes therefore they can continue working, even in extreme weather conditions.

Samoyed Character

Samoyeds are friendly, loyal, protective and energetic dogs. They are totally devoted to their owners and will generally protect their home with a lot of barking, Samoyeds are normally a very vocal breed of dog, training can prove to be a challenge as they are wilful and independent. They adore children and love company however they can be destructive if ignored and are prone to enjoy digging as a hobby! Samoyeds also enjoy impersonating Houdini and therefore require a high fence to contain them. The main point to remember is that this breed is highly energetic and therefore requires a lot of exercise.
