Wolfdog Description

A Wolfdog is a hybrid between a wolf and a recognized domestic breed of dog or dogs, such as a Malamute, Husky or German Shepherd; their appearance obviously largely depends on the mixture of dog. They are a large dog with generally small and erect ears they have smallish eyes with a long thin muzzle. The coat again depends upon the dog mix but most are long-haired and the colours range but can include brindle, grey, white, black, cream and brown.

Wolfdog Character

This breed of dog will not suit everyone as they require a strong, firm but kind training method. They are often quite a skittish breed not liking bangs or raised voices. Young Wolfdogs will not normally display wolf-like tendencies until 18 months and above, adult Wolfdogs have natural instincts which lean towards a wolf’s predatory behaviour. It must be emphasized that this breed requires a lot of work, they can tolerate the cold but not the heat very well, they are large dogs with a love for the outdoors. If started young they can live outdoors, they have minds of their own and are not recommended for children under the age of 14 years. Not advised with smaller animals.
