Saluki Description

A very athletic and extremely elegant breed, they have a narrow, tapering head with long pendent ears. Their tail is beautifully feathered and is generally carried low. The coat is short overall and can be black and tan, fawn, white or cream and red.

Saluki Character

Salukis are a friendly breed but tend to be slightly aloof with strangers but will walk away from them rather than alert anyone ! They are unique in the fact that they only have one coat, lacking the oily undercoat. It is this coat that produces the 'doggy smell.' They shed very little. They are highly independent and this is what makes their training a challenge. They tend to select a family member and then become that person's dog.
