Italian Volpino Description

The Italian Volpino is a pretty little breed of dog thought to descend from the Spitz, they have triangular shaped ears which stand erect on the dog’s head. Their trademark is their beautiful tail which is highly set and cascades over their back, the coat is thick and most commonly observed in pure white but can also be champagne, sand or black in colour.

Italian Volpino Character

Like many of the smaller breeds of dog the Italian Volpino boasts a massive personality, it is a lively and playful little dog full of affection and especially with its family, they can be wary of strangers. The Italian Volpino loves the outdoors and they are surprisingly agile and have a fast turn of speed for a small breed. They are intelligent and learn quickly but they are also sensitive therefore requiring a firm but kind approach to training. The name ‘Volpino’ translates to ‘little fox’ a name which suits this small breed of dog to perfection as they have a beautiful foxy looking face.
