Bearded Collies are a medium sized dog, they are lean to look at. Their outer coat is long and shaggy and always has a natural centre parting so the coat cascades down either side of the dog. From their cheeks, lower lips and underneath their chins the Bearded Collie’s hair increases in length towards their chests, giving them their famous ‘bearded’ appearance. The coat alters colour throughout the dog’s life by fading to grey from black, brown, blue or fawn and then darkening as the dog matures.
Bearded Collie Character
The Bearded Collie is a gentle breed of dog, they like to be around people and children. They are amicable towards other dogs and animals. The breed has the natural Collie ‘herding’ instinct and needs to be kept occupied, they possess a high energy level. The Bearded Collie is an intelligent breed of dog but they learn best if they actually believe that it is for their own good that they learn! Coercive training methods are best as they do not react well to harsh training, they are a sensitive breed.
