The Beagle is a small but sturdy hound, with a broad head and a very square muzzle. The ears are long and pendent styled. They seem to have a very kindly expression. Beagles are athletic and compact. Their short coats are dense and weatherproof and they are tan and white with black markings.
Beagles are well natured dogs, they are bred to be pack animals and will take their position within your family very seriously. They love children and are always ready to join in with their games. Training can be tricky due to the breeds independent and inquisitive nature, they do like to please but need to be shown what is expected of them quite often. Beagles are calm dogs possessing great stamina. Due to being essentially for hunting they are not a good breed to have around other animals
