Australian Cattle Dog Description

The Australian Cattle Dog is a compact, medium sized dog. It has a broad head, a deep chest with a medium-length tail that is usually slightly curved. The breed is a picture of stamina and agility with an intense stare that a Border Collie would envy. They have a short, double-layered coat that is generally a blue or red mottled colour coupled with black and tan markings.

Australian Cattle Dog Character

This is a very quiet breed of dog, hardly barking. Hard working and brave, they are always alert to their surroundings. The Australian Cattle Dog is an extremely athletic breed of dog and requires lots of space and plenty of daily exercise to quench its thirst for life. They possess great intelligence making them easy to train but can be sensitive and lack self-confidence when young. If introduced to life outside from an early age will happily reside in an outdoor kennel. Due to their high herding instincts they are not recommended for children.
