American Foxhound Description

The American Foxhound is a large scenthound with a longish muzzle and long pendant styled ears, the ears are broad making them seem large in relation to the dog’s head. This is a very handsome looking hound with the sweetest expression in its eyes which are either hazel in colour or brown. The tail is naturally set high and has a slight upward curve to it. The coat is short and usually tan, white and black.

American Foxhound Character

This is a gentle breed with a very affectionate nature. They are also brave and excel in hunting, be warned if they pick up a scent whilst out and about they will follow it! A super energetic dog requiring lots of exercise, they will live outside if introduced to it at an early age. The American Foxhound likes to ‘sing’ rather than bark, this breed adores children but be careful around smaller animals due to its love of chasing.
